When the RAC General Membership met on October 7th to vote me into the President of RAC, I had no idea work for me would begin immediately. I literally began working the night before Day 2 of our 2026 RAC Annual Conference. Our Executive Director, Carmen Bierschwale, kept me on my toes.
My road to RAC all started with my peer and friend Craig Gilbert who reached out to me in early 2023 to ask if I would be interested in joining RAC. He reached out because of social media posts I would make in the various real estate valuation groups, sharing best tips and practices, as well as networking. Up to that point, I was not familiar with RAC.
I became an official member of RAC in mid-2023. Next, I was asked to join the Board of Directors. From there, I moved to Second Vice-President, and then First Vice-President. I am still humbled and honored the nominating committee entrusted me to lead our organization now in the role of President.
I will continue the work that has been established by prior leadership. The objectives I have are the following:
Increase membership. From our 2026 Annual Conference, we have 2-3 attendees (minimum) who will join RAC.
Topics for our 2027 Annual Conference. Yes, relocation is in our organization name. But we as a group perform so much more. Some other potential topics for consideration for Day 2 (as Day 1 is dedicated specifically for relocation topics/discussions) are business valuation, personal property valuation, machinery, and right-of-way (just to name a few).
Town Halls. This was our former president Lisa Meinczinger-Gulden’s brainchild. Attendance was great for these sessions. This needs to continue, as this can be utilized as a recruitment tool to increase membership. Topics listed under Item 2 above can also be considered for our monthly town halls.
Retention. When an existing member(s) are considering or have decided to not renew their membership, let’s look into this. Let’s reach out to them to have a further discussion as to why or how they arrived at that decision. The solution could be maybe they did not feel engaged with the organization.
During our conference, Lisa shared with me a couple of ideas she had. I will not take her thunder. I’ll wait for Lisa to share her ideas with all of us, which are great!
I look forward to serving you all in this new role. And if you have any questions for me, I am only a phone call (708-790-4527) or an email away (Christopher_J_Posey@comcast.net).
Sincerely,
Christopher J. Posey, SRA, ASA
